Easy Homemade Pesto
Health Highlights
No need for store-bought pesto anymore. This recipe is so easy with just 5 ingredients. And it takes just 5 min to make too!

Ingredients


1 cup Basil, fresh (fresh)
3 clove(s) Garlic (peeled)
3 tbsp Pine nuts, dried
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (freshly grated)
to taste salt and; black pepper (Kosher; freshly ground; (to taste))
1/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions


  1. To make the pesto, combine basil, garlic, pine nuts and Parmesan in the bowl of a food processor; season with salt and pepper, to taste. With the motor running, add olive oil in a slow stream until emulsified; set aside.
  2. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes:

I sometimes use my magic bullet to blend ingredients together and find it works well.

I often add parsley (1/4 cup) to this recipe for a different flavour or just leave recipe as is. Both grow well in my garden so I like to make use of both herbs as much as possible!
