Preheat oven 350 degrees. Coat a nonstick 9x5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the bananas, applesauce, brown sugar and eggs until creamy.
Stir in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt until just blended.
Scrape the mixture into the prepared loaf pan . Bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, 55 to 65 minutes.
Remove from the oven and set the pan on a wire rack to cool. Cool in pan for 15 minutes and then remove loaf from the pan and allow to completely on the rack.
Notes:
I used white whole wheat flour in place of whole wheat pastry flour, which I think gives a lighter, more tender result.
