1 cup | Lentils, raw (rinsed) |
1/2 cup | Brown rice, medium-grain, dry (or another rice of choice) |
3 cup | Water |
1 1/2 tbsp | Sea Salt |
1 cup | Bread crumbs, plain |
1/2 cup | Wheat germ, crude |
1 large | Yellow onion (chopped) |
1/2 tsp | Celery seed |
1/2 tsp | Marjoram |
1/4 tsp, ground | Thyme, dried |
1/2 tsp | Black pepper |
1 tbsp | Parsley, fresh (chopped) |
1. Combine lentils, rice, water and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer for 35-45 minutes, or until rice is tender.
2. Remove from heat, let stand 10 minutes and then mash together with any remaining liquid in pan.
3. Place in a large bowl with bread crumbs, wheat germ, onion , celery seed, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper and parsley. Mix well and shape into patties.
4. Coat with wheat germ and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown on both sides.
