These healthy sausages taste great and are simple to make. The recipe can also be doubled or tripled for a crowd, and freeze well for later use.
Ingredients
1 large
Apple, Granny Smith
(peeled and diced)
2 tsp
Poultry seasoning
1 tsp
Salt
1/4 tsp
Black pepper
454 gm
Chicken, ground, lean
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the diced apple, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Crumble the ground chicken over the mixture and mix well.
Shape into eight 3-in. patties.
In a large, greased cast-iron skillet (or another heavy pan), cook patties over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-6 minutes on each side. Drain if necessary.
Notes:
To make a complete breakfast, serve with a side of leftover roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach and mushrooms, yogurt and berries, or on an English muffin with peanut butter and apple slices.
